A newsletter from the Ren community about all things Ren-
Below you will find a community organized newsletter, aiming to provide a periodic roundup of all things Ren. We hope our bite-size format helps guide your research into Ren’s development, ecosystem expansion and RenDAO activity.
A few points before we dive right in:

Part I: Ren Development
Ren’s evolution into an L1
Over the last few months, the crypto space has once more humbled us all in more ways than anyone could imagine.
The contagion sparked by Luna’s failure set a series of events in motion across this space that affected many and served as a good example to take Ren’s evolution more seriously than ever before. It is time to revisit previous roadmaps and mindfully determine Ren’s path forward into a decentralized and permissionless solution within DeFi, a robust foundation to serve as the interoperability layer of Crypto.
RFC-036 was the first step as we stand at the crossroads of key decisions. With incredible engagement from the community and a discussion with over 100 posts, the brainstorming session has been informative. For those who did not have the time to go through the whole thread, a recommendation is to brief yourself with the latest post from @Stanzorz who has been kind enough to provide a summary here.
We encourage everyone to partake in this discussion, or at the very least review the summary. Make sure your voice is heard as the crucial components of Ren’s evolution will be set based on these discussions.
Ren’s potential new path to decentralization
As the discussions in RFC-036 matured and gave us important insight in both community and team perspectives, the team (Ren Labs) filled us in with their thoughts around the most important stepping stone, decentralization. In RFC-037 we were introduced to insights around establishing a Ren Foundation, inflationary tokenomics and token utility for REN.
As expected, this topic resulted in candid engagement from the community with over 50 posts thus far. It is clearer than ever that we have been blessed with a vibrant and knowledgeable community in the Crypto/DeFi space with many interesting perspectives.
This latest RFC-037 has had some contentious thoughts that have made us reflect on many components as Ren evolves. It is now more important than ever for the community to engage, as we have an opportunity to thoughtfully accelerate our path towards decentralization.
Ren’s RB3/H2H release
We have finally seen the launch of RenBridge 3.0 come to fruition with two very exciting new upgrades:
+Support for stablecoins, generic tokens, and L1 native assets
+Bridge renASSETS in one step between smart contract chains
Next step is to achieve liquidity and volume across these new assets on all chains which are in a planning stage. Make sure you visit the DAO channel in Ren’s discord server and partake in discussions on how we can optimize the bridging solution for all these new assets.
Part II: Ren Ecosystem
ZeroDAO shares exciting functionality powered by Ren
ZeroDAO, a long time partner of Ren, has begun to reveal what they have been building behind the scenes. Recently showcasing GaaS and CaaS on their twitter, combined with a recent Medium post, sets the stage for ZeroDAO to be a flagship display for the capabilities of Ren. Join their discord here, use their bridge here.
RAILGUN front end integration with Ren soon to be live for users
RAILGUN announced that over the next few weeks will go live with a front end integration of Ren, allowing each user seeking cross-chain functionality to their transactions, the option to do so when using RAILGUN’S innovative privacy system. Check out their detailed announcement about this great partnership to learn more. You can follow them on twitter and join their vibrant telegram community here.
BadgerDAO brings BTC to DeFi leveraging Ren’s technology
BadgerDAO is preparing to launch its new, upgraded bridge, leveraging Ren’s technology to bring BTC to DeFi. This bridge will provide the uses optimized gas costs, among other benefits.
You can follow their twitter here, and join their thriving community here to read more about all the exciting solutions they are working on.
Part III: RenDAO and Community Initiatives
Potential Ren buyback program discussed by YieldOps leadership
There have been some early stage discussions by members of the community on using a portion of the treasury to purchase REN to incentivize DAO participation. If you would like to make your voice heard, join the discord or create an RFC here to expand the scope of what can be done with the CEF. Community call history can be found here.
Marketing Working Group 1st call and leadership
Ren community members continue stepping up and helping RenDAO mature. Working groups of volunteers are solidifying across different functions, all looking to strengthen Ren’s path to decentralization. After growing interest by several community members in scaling marketing efforts, @ Cowboy volunteered to lead the Marketing Working Group, which is gradually laying the framework of the DAO’s marketing operations.
With weekly calls taking place to help strategize on frameworks and best practices, if you feel you can contribute as a marketing wizard, feel free to join Ren’s community efforts to this end, here.
